Mittenwald – without a lot of vertical

If flat makes you as happy as us sometimes – go for this one. Not only will it give you a flat adventure. But astonishing views of the river Isar as you go.

The route

General

You could describe this trail as the perfect rookie „running off solid roads“ trail. Why? Because it is easy terrain, has almost no elevation gains to accomplish and introduces you to moving your feet in a bit more technical terrain. Meaning on a hiking path made of a mix of gravel, solid mud, roots and gras. Your joints will not want to go back to road running anymore after. Running southound on the east side of Isar river you are heading for the town of Mittenwald. This town marks your half way through point. The relaxed runner can get a coffee or icecreaming here before heading out for the second half of the run. It will now take you a bit more away from the river through green forest and lush alpine meadows. All this without having to go up on the mountain. Sometimes running on small asphast roads in this section your feet will not be challenged too much for today. For us the perfect run to introduce somebody to trailrunning. It will give you an idea about what it is all about. Go feel alive on the trails – maybe it‘s your first time. You will never forget it.
If you already call yourself a trailrunning expert – go for a fast training here.

Take care of:

You have to cross a country road at one point. Just prior being back at the carpark. Money for icecream and coffee.

Scenic point:

All along the Isar.
