Your adventure begins as participants arrive throughout the day in Innsbruck, depending on personal travel plans. Whether you’re arriving by train, car, or plane, we’ll provide all the information you need for smooth transportation to the hotel. From public transport options to taxi services, we’re happy to assist in finding the most convenient route for you.

Once at the hotel, you’ll have time to settle in, explore Innsbruck, or simply relax and recharge. In the early evening, we’ll gather for a welcoming dinner followed by a detailed briefing about the week ahead. During this session, we’ll cover daily routines, trail routes, essential gear, nutrition tips, mountain safety guidelines, and the basics of trail etiquette. It’s also a chance to meet your guides and fellow adventurers.

To set the tone for the week, we’ll cap off the day with a short evening trail run under the stars. Bring your headlamp and soak in the magical ambiance of running through the twilight, with the city lights below and the mountains silhouetted against the night sky.

Day 2: Discovering Innsbruck’s Zirbenweg Trail

After a restful night in the hotel, we begin the day with a hearty breakfast to fuel up for our first full trail run. A short transfer takes us to the start of the iconic Zirbenweg Trail. This route, stretching between Patscherkofel and Glungezer, offers relatively gentle terrain—perfect for getting accustomed to mountain trail running.

As we traverse the trail, you’ll be surrounded by ancient pine forests and panoramic views of Innsbruck and the Inn Valley. Along the way, your guides will provide tips on pacing, terrain navigation, and hydration. This run is as much about the journey as it is about the stunning scenery.

Our destination is a charming mountain hut, the quintessential alpine retreat, where we’ll enjoy a well-earned lunch. Known for its delicious regional dishes (don’t skip the cakes!), the hut provides the perfect setting for a hands-on workshop. Using a detailed hiking map, we’ll introduce you to map reading and route planning, equipping you with essential skills for navigating mountain terrain.

Day 3: Into the Lush Valleys – The “Madeira of Tyrol”

Today, we explore a unique area west of Innsbruck, often referred to as the “Madeira of Tyrol”. After breakfast, a short transfer takes us to this lush valley, known for its vibrant greenery and humid microclimate. This trail introduces us to diverse terrain, from soft forest paths to rocky river crossings.

The route winds past cascading waterfalls, babbling mountain streams, and an ancient glacier lake—a hidden gem nestled in the alpine landscape. For those feeling adventurous, we’ll include a detour to explore temple-like rock formations that add a mystical touch to the day.

With its mix of natural beauty and varied terrain, today’s run challenges your trail skills while rewarding you with incredible views. After returning to the hotel in the afternoon, unwind with a session in the sauna or relax with a well-deserved nap.

Day 4: Into the Heart of the Kalkkögel – An Overnight in the Mountains

This day marks a shift in our adventure as we head deeper into the mountains for an overnight stay in a traditional alpine hut. After breakfast, a cable car whisks us to the base of the stunning Kalkkögel mountain range, known for its Dolomite-like rock formations.

From here, we set off on a traverse that offers two route options: a shorter trail with time for an additional mountain hut visit, or a longer, more scenic route featuring views of the Stubai Valley and its glaciers. Whichever route we choose, the trails are filled with breathtaking panoramas and a sense of serene isolation.

Arriving at the mountain hut, you’ll be greeted with warm hospitality and some of the best Kaiserschmarrn and Knödel in the region. Spend the afternoon soaking your feet in the nearby mountain stream or basking in the sun on the terrace. Later, we’ll host a hands-on session on mountain first aid and rescue techniques.

As night falls, enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the hut, share stories with your fellow runners, and savor a celebratory schnapps, courtesy of the friendly hut host. Fall asleep surrounded by the quiet beauty of the mountains.

Day 5: A Farewell to the Trails

Our final day begins with breakfast at the hut, followed by a run back down the mountain. The trail takes us through peaceful alpine forests, where wild blueberry bushes line the paths, offering a sweet snack along the way.

Reaching the valley, we return to the hotel for a refreshing shower and a moment to reflect on the incredible week. With your gear packed and memories of mountain adventures etched in your mind, it’s time to say goodbye to Innsbruck and your newfound trail friends.

What can you expect?

We offer five different trails, three of which are full-day trips and two that are half-day trips. In our opinion, and confirmed by nutritionists and trail running coaches, this is a solid yet manageable amount of running for a week. Individual preferences for less or possibly more can be discussed with the guides, and we will try to accommodate whatever is feasible.

Our workshops for beginner trail runners cover topics such as the use of poles, nutrition, navigation, safety (including first aid), and selecting suitable trails. Our goal is for you to feel confident after our sessions, with the ability to plan and complete routes, while understanding the safety aspects involved, including weather conditions and alpine hazards.

Where will you sleep?

Picture this: three nights spent in a charming hotel where you can unwind in wellness facilities, letting your muscles relax after a day of trail running and adventure. Then, as the perfect finale to the trip, we’ll spend the last night in a cozy mountain hut. Don’t worry about carrying extra weight—your luggage will be magically transported to the hut, so you can focus solely on soaking in the stunning views around you. By then, the group will have developed a fantastic camaraderie, and all you’ll need to do is decide which breathtaking scenery you want to enjoy as you rest up for the next day. It’s an experience that blends comfort with adventure—leaving you with lasting memories and a sense of accomplishment.
