Dolomites Trailrunning Adventure

Trailrunning tour

15 - 30 km a day

Italy, Dolomites

27 - 31 August 2025

Dive into five days of trailrunning in the heart of the Dolomites, designed for runners who thrive on mountain terrain. This adventure combines challenging routes, stunning landscapes, and hands-on workshops to help you level up your trailrunning skills. From sunrise ridgelines to technical descents, you’ll experience the best of what the Dolomites have to offer. This trip is perfect for experienced trailrunners who train regularly (minimum 15 km per week) and are comfortable on rugged trails. Each day, we’ll split into two groups based on pace and route preferences, so everyone can find their rhythm. Stay in welcoming mountain huts and share the trails with fellow runners who share your love for adventure.

Day 1: Arrival and First Mountain Steps
Our adventure kicks off in Wolkenstein (Selva di Val Gardena). After meeting in the valley and getting to know each other, we’ll take the lift into the mountains, leaving the hustle and bustle far behind. Our destination is Rifugio Firenze, a welcoming mountain hut where we’ll settle in for the next two nights. We walk here with our luggage. The walk from the cable car is aprox 30 min.

To get accustomed to the altitude and the terrain, we’ll take a short 5 km run around the hut. The trail is gentle yet scenic, offering a glimpse of the dramatic landscapes we’ll explore in the coming days. After our run, there’s time to relax, take in the views, and enjoy a hearty alpine dinner as the sun sets behind the peaks.

Day 2: Chasing the Sunrise on Seceda
We start early, heading up the trail under the soft light of dawn. Our goal is the famous Seceda, where the first rays of sunlight illuminate jagged ridgelines and rolling meadows. Standing there, watching the world wake up from such a vantage point, is an experience that stays with you long after the trip ends.

After a rewarding run of about 15 km with 700 meters of climbing, we return to Rifugio Firenze for a well-earned rest. The afternoon is devoted to learning, with hands-on workshops covering essential trail-running skills. You’ll learn how to use poles effectively, plan safe and exciting routes, and optimize your nutrition for long runs. These sessions are practical, engaging, and tailored to all experience levels.

Day 3: A Thrilling Descent and a New Hut to Call Home
The day begins with an exhilarating descent into the valley. You can choose a 10 km trail run through varied terrain, filled with switchbacks and sweeping views, or opt for a cable car ride to save your legs.

Once in the valley, we regroup and transfer to our next base: Sasso Piatto Hütte. After a short hike to the hut, we arrive at this cozy mountain retreat surrounded by the towering Langkofel and Plattkofel peaks. The evening is spent relaxing and soaking in the peaceful alpine atmosphere, with plenty of time to recharge for the days ahead.

Day 4: Trail-Running Options to Suit Every Adventurer
Today you have a choice between two incredible routes. For those who prefer a moderate challenge, the Langkofel-Plattkofel loop offers 15 km of well-marked trails with stunning panoramas at every turn. This route provides a balanced mix of climbs and descents, making it a rewarding option for all levels.

If you’re up for something more ambitious, the 23 km route to Lago Antermoia is a must. This trail takes you through rugged terrain, over challenging passes, and finally to the serene waters of an alpine lake. Along the way, you’ll experience technical trails, steep climbs, and the raw beauty of Val Duron and Val di Dona.

After a fulfilling day on the trails, we return to Sasso Piatto Hütte for a relaxed evening. The shared sense of accomplishment makes the experience even more memorable.

Day 5: A Scenic Farewell Across the Seiser Alm
Our final day begins with another choice. You can take the longer 23 km route across the Seiser Alm, known for its open meadows and breathtaking views of peaks like the Schlern. This route offers plenty of variety and a last chance to soak in the beauty of the Dolomites.

For a gentler finish, there’s a shorter 15 km option that takes you through the same stunning scenery but at a more relaxed pace. Both routes lead us back to the valley, where we’ll share one last meal or drink together before saying our goodbyes.

Running through the Dolomites means tackling tough, rocky terrain, but the views make every step worth it.
